HICAP Announces Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient
Chairman and Managing Director, Great Eagle Holdings Limited, and Executive Chairman of Langham Hospitality Group to be honored at HICAP
Singapore – HICAP is pleased to announce that Dr. Lo Ka Shui, GBS, JP, Chairman and Managing Director, Great Eagle Holdings Limited, and Executive Chairman of Langham Hospitality Group, will be awarded the HICAP Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Lo Ka Shui will be presented with the award at the 36th edition of HICAP being held 20-22 October 2026 at the Fairmont Singapore & Swissotel The Stamford.
The HICAP Lifetime Achievement Award honors exceptional individuals who have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments and contributions to expanding, enhancing, and advancing the hotel industry in the Asia Pacific region and the world.
Dr. Lo Ka Shui is a distinguished Hong Kong business leader and civic contributor whose career spans more than four decades across property, hospitality, finance, healthcare and public service. A medical doctor by training, Dr Lo graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from McGill University in 1970 and a Master's Degree in Medicine from Cornell University in 1974. He subsequently completed specialist training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Michigan Hospital. This rigorous clinical background has informed his long-standing commitment to healthcare, governance and public wellbeing.
Since joining Great Eagle Group in 1980, Dr. Lo has played a defining role in its growth and strategic development. He has served as Managing Director of Great Eagle Holdings Limited since 1990 and as Chairman since 2006. Under his leadership, the Group has strengthened its position as a leading Hong Kong-based property and hospitality group. He is also Executive Chairman of Langham Hospitality Group, a role he has held since 2003, and Chairman of the Managers of Champion Real Estate Investment Trust and Langham Hospitality Investments, both publicly listed trusts.
Dr. Lo’s extensive boardroom experience includes non-executive directorships at major listed corporations, including The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Shanghai Industrial Holdings Limited and China Mobile Limited. His contributions to Hong Kong’s capital markets have been particularly significant: he served as a director of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and/or its Council from 1992 to 2006 and chaired its Main Board and Growth Enterprise Board Listing Committee from 1992 to 2003.
Beyond commercial leadership, Dr. Lo has made substantial contributions to Hong Kong’s public and civic institutions. He served as Chairman of the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong from 2000 to 2002, a Board Member of the Hong Kong Airport Authority from 2003 to 2011, and a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority from 2012 to 2018. He has also served the University Grants Committee and remains Vice President of The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong. Following his term as Chairman of The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies from 2009 to 2013, he continues to support the organization as Senior Advisor.
Dr. Lo’s exceptional leadership and service have been widely recognized. He received the Gold Bauhinia Star from the Hong Kong Government in 2003 for his contributions to the healthcare and financial sectors. His business and hospitality achievements have also earned prominent accolades, including the Asia Pacific Hotel Industry Conference’s “Hotelier of the Year” award in 2005, the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Person of the Year Award in 2005, and TTG’s Travel Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2006.
A committed philanthropist, Dr. Lo supports charitable initiatives through the Lo Ying Shek Chi Wai Foundation and the KS & Feili Lo Foundation, with a focus on early childhood development, education, music, environmental initiatives, healthcare and medicine.
Dr. Lo’s career exemplifies sustained leadership, responsible corporate stewardship and a deep commitment to advancing Hong Kong’s business, healthcare and community sectors.
