The HICAP Deal of the Year Awards highlight the most dynamic deals and developments and honor the ongoing achievements of our industry’s leaders. Applications for the Deal of the Year Awards are open.
Reggie Shiu Development of the Year
The deadline for submissions is Monday, 31 August 2026
The Award is named after Reggie Shiu, formerly of Accor Asia Pacific and a pioneer of the regional hotel industry. Mr Shiu and most of his family perished tragically in the Asian Tsunami of 2005.
We welcome nominations from the entire industry. A select committee of industry peers then vote to create a shortlist of three deals, from which the final winner is determined by delegate votes immediately prior to HICAP.
General Guidelines for Reggie Shiu Development of the Year Qualification:
Recognizes an outstanding single development – newly built, redeveloped or repositioned (after significant renovation or enhancement)
All nominees must be located in Asia Pacific
All nominees for Development of the Year must have opened between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026.

Single Asset Transaction of the Year

The HICAP Single Asset Transaction of the Year Award recognizes hotel(s) and/or resort(s) in which more than a 50 percent ownership stake has been acquired (transaction closed) in Asia Pacific between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026.

Merger & Acquisition of the Year

The HICAP Merger & Acquisition of the Year Award recognizes an acquisition of a controlling stake in a portfolio of hotels, company, or brand ownership entity in Asia Pacific or undertaken by an Asian-based company between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026.

Rising Star Award Asia Pacific
The Rising Star Award Asia Pacific is co-sponsored by the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) and the Hotel Investment Group by Northstar. The award will be presented to the winner at the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), 20-22 October 2026, at the Fairmont Singapore & Swissotel The Stamford.
This award identifies and recognizes emerging talent and future leadership in the Asia Pacific sector. The screening committee will evaluate nominees based on completion of the nomination form, and with regards to - Achievement, Impact, and Recommendation.
